The Hovercraft is one of four vehicles that Funky Kong leases in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!. It is a step up from the Motor Boat, in that it's slighty faster, and more importantly, can drive over rocks in the water.

Funky Kong is unable to build the Hovercraft, due to a hole in one of the parts. If Dixe and Kiddy Kong manage to defeat Arich in Kremwood Forest, the spider will drop a Patch. By taking this Patch to Funky, he will be able to fix up the Hovercraft and allow the Kongs to use it for their journey, mainly enabling them to reach Cotton-Top Cove and Mekanos.

Once the Kongs recover the Skis from the bosses of Cotton-Top Cove and Mekanos, Funky will use them to build the Turbo Ski, which can travel up waterfalls, and will serve as the Hovercraft's replacement from thereon out.

In the Game Boy Advance remake of Donkey Kong Country 3, the Hovercraft is also used in Funky's Protect minigame, where Dixie or Kiddy must prevent Kremlings from kidnapping members of the Kong family in the middle of a lake.

In the true ending of Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, a brief scene of Baron K. Roolenstein trying to flee in his own Hovercraft, identical to the Kongs', if only slightly larger, will be shown.
