- In Super Mario Odyssey, at one part of the song Jump Up, Super Star!, the theme of 25m from Donkey Kong can be heard during the part where Pauline repeats the lyrics "Odyssey, ya see."
- The character Diddy Kong was created when Nintendo wouldn't let Rare use an altered Donkey Kong Jr. for the game Donkey Kong Country.
