In The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 episode "Recycled Koopa", Toad, suspicious of Bowser and the Koopalings, brought out Luigi's Plumber's Periscope in a cardboard box, which he gave to Mario to spy on the Koopalings and Bowser.
