Hi. Just a reminder that when naming game titles, they should be italicised. The formatting for that is two apostrophes before and after the name (so for ''[[Mario Golf: World Tour]]'', it's <code><nowiki>''[[Mario Golf: World Tour]]''</nowiki></code>). Thanks and keep contributing. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 21:10, 31 October 2017 (EDT) |

Image uploads
Hello, Jigglypuff. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly use the {{aboutfile}} template. What you were doing looks like this, and it is an inconvenience for other users to fix up the template. It is simple to learn how to format it correctly. The pre-loaded syntax is shown below. {{aboutfile |1=Subject of the image |2=Where you found the image |3=Artist |4=Describe edits, if any |5=Other versions (use file link) }} Just replace the necessary parts with that corresponding information, and remove the entire line for the parameter(s) you don't use. Please consider the above information before uploading more files. If you continue using {{aboutfile}} incorrectly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing. |
Hello, Jigglypuff. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:
When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the {{aboutfile}} template, replacing the {{uncategorized}} template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, files related to the game Super Mario World would use: [[Category:Super Mario World images]]or [[Category:Super Mario World media files]] Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing. |
Just some things to keep in mind. 19:32, 26 October 2017 (EDT)
- Thanks! I'm helping out with the Mario Golf World Tour DLC Courses Layer-Cake Desert I'm getting these done now before Miiverse Closes. I'm also planning on helping out on Rock-Candy Mines Once I'm done with Layer-Cake Desert, although I need some help making the chart so I can get to work on Rock-Candy Mines. Jigglypuff (talk) 19:53, 26 October 2017 (EDT)
- Just to be clear, you need to remove the parts that say "Subject of the image", "Where you found the image" etc. and replace {{uncategorized}} with the Category:Mario Golf: World Tour Images category. So it should be something like this:
{{aboutfile |1=Hole 16 of [[Layer-Cake Desert]] in ''[[Mario Golf: World Tour]]''. |2=Miiverse |3=Asriel }} [[Category:Mario Golf: World Tour Images]]
- I'll make sure to be aware of that when adding images to Rock-Candy Mines. I'll remember to avoid this mistake. Jigglypuff (talk) 20:09, 26 October 2017 (EDT)
- You're still forgetting to categorize the images with [[Category:Mario Golf: World Tour Images]]. LuigiMaster123 20:33, 26 October 2017 (EDT)
- If I am, I may need some help then.. Jigglypuff (talk) 20:35, 26 October 2017 (EDT)
- Shouldn't be too hard. Follow the blue box. Since they are for a game, see Category:Images by game. You can insert
[[Category:Mario Golf: World Tour Images]]
in the summary box of Special:Upload. Use copy (ctrl+c) and paste (ctrl+v) for a shortcut of mass uploading. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 23:14, 26 October 2017 (EDT) - I've tried that, and the {{Uncategorized}} Message is still present. Am I missing an extra step? Jigglypuff (talk) 06:38, 27 October 2017 (EDT)
- {{Uncategorized}} can be removed by yourself while uploading the images, if you have already added the category. --TheFlameChomp (talk) 06:47, 27 October 2017 (EDT)

Copy the information below exactly, replace the default image text with it, and adjust what you need to for the hole number and location.
== Summary == {{aboutfile |1=Hole 7 of [[Mountain Course]] in ''[[Mario Golf: World Tour]]'' |2=Miiverse |3=Asriel }} [[Category:Mario Golf: World Tour Images]] == Licensing == {{game-screenshot}}
- Maybe do the licensing separately. It's adding two of the same template :P 18:49, 27 October 2017 (EDT)
- I noticed, You told me to copy the information and that's what I did. I can fix it. Jigglypuff (talk) 18:51, 27 October 2017 (EDT)
Please do not delete discussions.
Hi. You deleted your comments on Talk:Rock-Candy Mines (golf course). Please know that discussions remain on talk pages permanently around here, whether or not they are resolved. The only exceptions to this are forum talk (discussions that have nothing to do with improving the article, e.g. "What's your favorite Mario game?") and spamming. Thanks and keep contributing!

- It was actually for a good purpose, I wanted someone to make a table, but no one wanted to help. Jigglypuff (talk) 21:45, 28 October 2017 (EDT)
- Still not a good excuse. What if someone suddenly wanted to help? (Sorry, I can't remember where I got the info for Mountain Course, but I think you can search for it somehow. It's not too far away, from what I remember.) (T|C) 22:25, 28 October 2017 (EDT)
- It's not an excuse, I already got the Rock-Candy Mines Golf Course done by adding the table. Plus yesterday, I asked for this situation on the chat, no one replied to me. Jigglypuff (talk) 23:02, 28 October 2017 (EDT)
- Still against the rules. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:06, 28 October 2017 (EDT)
- How come? I kind of find it a little ridiculous. Jigglypuff (talk) 23:09, 28 October 2017 (EDT)
- Son, just don't, okay? If you find the rules a little ridiculous, then now is not the time to talk about it. Let's just stop the discussion and remember, don't delete any discussions, no matter what. It doesn't matter what reason you have, just don't do it. If you've got a problem, then talk to one of us and we can help you with it, but son, just don't push it. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 23:17, 28 October 2017 (EDT)
- I'm asking why is it a rule. If I had help I wouldn't have deleted my discussion because I had no idea it was a rule. Jigglypuff (talk) 23:32, 28 October 2017 (EDT)
- sigh...Why do you think it is a rule? Seriously, come on now. Why would it not be a rule? Come on, bro, it's a rule for a reason, do you really need to know why it is? Well, now you know it is a rule, so don't break it next time. Now let's just stop, okay? I've told you everything you need to know. I don't want this discussion to go on any further and spiral out of control. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 23:36, 28 October 2017 (EDT)
- I'm a new user, and was an autoconfirmed user on Tuesday and no one gave me a rule book or link to look at. Jigglypuff (talk) 23:43, 28 October 2017 (EDT)
- ...Okay, then. I get that. Well, in either case, now you know. If you want to know some of the rules, then have I got some pages for you to look that. I'll get them up here in a second, so stay tuned. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 23:47, 28 October 2017 (EDT)

MarioWiki:Blocking policy--This is the blocking policy, and it details all the punishments and whatnot for anyone who tries to interfere on the wiki. Don't be offended by this, it is just trying to tell you the rules and just the policy.
MarioWiki:Proposals--The header of the page lists off the rules for proposals. You can read that whenever you want.
MarioWiki:Maintenance--One of the most important pages, it outlines the overall tasks and jobs that everyone has on the wiki and what to do to help keep everything up-to-date and top-notch. You can find it on the sidebar in the navigation tab, just above the recent changes link.
MarioWiki:About--This is technically the introduction for newcomers on the wiki, so be sure to check this out if you have not yet done that.
MarioWiki:Courtesy--This page talks about how to maintain stability and order on the wiki by being nice to others and always assuming good faith in every edit, and it also talks about what is considered respectful and what is considered to be disrespectful.
MarioWiki:Don't shoot your foot off--This article basically talks about not being nitpicky to the last micron. Telling people that "there's no rule against it" as an excuse will only give you a recipe for disaster. We can't list every single last little thing on the wiki, so when the general public on the wiki considers something to be rude, offensive, and disrespectful, you might as well treat it like it is a rule, because it might as well be.
I hope that all this stuff helps you in the long run, because you're gonna need it. You better not complain that "I didn't know there was a rule against it", because I've got a good chunk of stuff here for you to look at if you ever need help. If you have a question that is not answered on these pages, then you can come ask one of us users, and we will help you out. Does that sound good? I hope you get the idea. Good luck out there. As far as I can tell, while removing comments is not okay, this has been blown out of proportion. Jigglypuff was the only person who commented on the page, and they were able to answer their own question. If they wanted the talk page to be deleted, they could have very well marked it up. Removing comments is a no so as to keep records of conversations, but there was nothing really worth keeping, as they were the only one that said anything. 00:37, 29 October 2017 (EDT)
If that was possible, what Ultimate Mr. L said once I have a discussion, it stays as a discussion, meaning they are permanent. Jigglypuff (talk) 00:43, 29 October 2017 (EDT)
- I've never seen anyone resolve their own problem on a talk page and it's normally against the rules to delete discussions, so I thought it was against the rules. But I guess I was wrong. Alex95 is a patroller, so I think he knows what he talking about. I think he's trying to say that even if it was wrong to delete said comments, this discussion is making a bigger deal out of it than it should. Sorry for starting all of this.
- (--) 10:52, 29 October 2017 (EDT)
- All I know is I've marked a few pages for deletion that I started and ultimately deemed unnecessary, and they have been deleted, so I personally don't see anything wrong here. But, for future reference, comments that are part of a conversation (i.e. someone else has said something) shouldn't be deleted. 12:29, 29 October 2017 (EDT)
