Bells in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze typically help the Kongs progress or uncover hidden items. They are found along the way in Autumn Heights and are first seen during Windmill Hills, one of its levels.

Near the end of that level, small gold bells are placed above the platforms carried by the blades of a windmill. A Puzzle Piece in the center of the windmill will gradually reveal if the Kongs ground pound all four bells.

In Mountain Mania, the following level, bells are hefty, bronze, and display a render of an owl, referencing the population of Hootz on the island. Each bell is attached to a short steeple, and can be knocked by Rambi the Rhinoceros to produce an item, which can be a banana, a Banana Coin, or, in one case, a Puzzle Piece. To reach a bell, the Kongs would have to carefully hop on the steeple's extended base. On the other hand, players may choose to charge into the steeple and collapse it altogether, without receiving any item.

Bells are also present in Wing Ding, where the majority of them appear to be silver and smaller than the previous ones. They are arranged in rows of three and are supported by hanging rods. They act as switches for certain occurences; the Kongs can ring and activate these bells if the ground pound button is pressed while in front of them. Throughout the level, such groups of bells are positioned next to Zip-Line Vines, and if rung, they will cause other zip-lines to appear ahead, or trigger blocking owl statues to break, allowing the characters to advance and making their use mandatory. Lone, golden bells can also be encountered, though they are optional. If rung, these will cause Banana Coins to spawn along the way.

Near the end of Wing Ding, the Kongs are launched by a Barrel Cannon into a massive bell, located at the top of a tower. This causes it to ring loudly and collapse the interior of the tower. As the Kongs drop inside the tower, they would have to survive an obstacled course in order to reach back to the Slot Machine Barrel inside the bell.
