Buckies[1] are yellow caterpillar enemies appearing in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. They are sluggish walkers that can stick to any surface using their stubby legs. Small, red bristles are orderly placed on their head and body. Buckies have rabbit-like teeth and a long mouth. Two small nostrils stand between their distant, wide open eyes.
As stated earlier, Buckies are able to cling onto walls and ceilings. As they walk, Buckies release trails of dangerous, toxic fumes that dissolve after a few moments. (Their concept artwork depicts one leaving trails of snow, which never happens in-game.) If they are on the ceiling, they occasionally attack by dropping large, poisonous bubbles that slowly descend to the ground and pop if coming into contact with it or the Kongs.
Buckies can be defeated with a stomp or a roll attack on their front side. However, by rolling into the monster, the Kongs could easily slip into its poisonous trail and lose a heart from their health meter. Buckies that hang from ceilings cannot be defeated by stomps or rolls; conversely, they can be knocked out with a barrel. If the player ground pounds next to a Bucky, the enemy will lay down and feel dizzy for a moment. Shooting one with a popgun produces a similar result, as it stuns it for a short time.
Sometimes, the player can encounter strings of ceiling-dwelling Buckies that constantly emerge from holes and end up in another one, further away.
