Template:Minigame-infobox Chump Rope is a 1-vs.-3 minigame in Mario Party 8. Its name is a pun off on "jump rope", which is used in the gameplay.

Introduction

The solo player turns a rope with a Shy Guy, and three Goombas jump on it. The Goombas leave, and they are replaced by the trio one by one. The rope stops moving and the game begins.

Gameplay

The solo player must swing the rope to topple the trio within the time limit of fifteen seconds. The trio must jump until the timer runs out.

Controls

  • Solo player: Must swing the Wii controller around like a jumprope.
  • Trio: Must quickly raise the Wii controller when the rope goes toward the feet.

Ending

This is the result when the solo player wins in Chump Rope in Mario Party 8.
The solo player beating the three remaining players.

If the solo player wins, they perform their victory pose while behind them, the three players are jumping a rope controlled by two Shy Guys trying to avoid being tripped. If the trio wins, it's the opposite; they perform their victory poses while the solo player jumps the rope instead.

In-game text

  • Rules "One player swings a jump rope for 15 seconds, trying to trip up three jumpers!"
  • Hint "Controlling the rope? Change up your swing speed! Trying to survive? Pay attention to the speed!"
