Template:Species-infobox Thug Slugs[1] are sleek-looking slug enemies that appear in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. They are only located in the first world of the game, the Lost Mangroves. They look angry and carry overly curved hunches with wavy stripes textured on them The words in their name are rhymed, and describe the malicious behavior of these creatures.

Thug Slugs are capable of traversing platforms from all sides, not just from their top. They crawl straightforwardly at a hasty pace in an attempt to touch and hurt the Kongs. Attacking a Thug Slug by physical contact is not a recommended idea if the enemy is currently clinging to ceilings or vertical surfaces, and in this stance it can only be vanquished by tossing a carriable object, such as a barrel, into it. However, the slug enemy becomes completely unwary of any of the player's attacks once it returns on ground, and a single stomp on its hunch can defeat it.

It is possible to briefly stun this enemy by making it dizzy. This can be achieved by either shooting into it with a popgun, or ground pounding next to it.

Thug Slugs tend to be rather rare, as there are only two levels that feature them, the first being Canopy Chaos. Here, they can be mostly found crawling on treetops, but also artificial platforms. The second level is Trunk Twister, which concentrates less on these enemies, since there is only one that can be encountered at the beginning of the stage.
