The Fire Bros. are an extremely rare variety of Hammer Bros. Instead of throwing hammers like their relatives, Fire Bros. have the unique ability to spit fireballs. These fireballs move very fast and are very hard to dodge. Fire Bros. first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 3. In fact, only three appear in the entire game. Two appear in the Desert Land while one appears in the Hand Trap levels of Dark Land. Fire Bros. reappear in New Super Mario Bros.
Flare, a Fire Bro., is a fighter in the Glitz Pit and the only Fire Bro. in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Like other Fire Bros., he spits fireballs to attack; however, these fireballs not only damage opponents, they cause them to catch fire as well.
Fire Bros. appeared in New Super Mario Bros. and like in Super Mario Bros. 3 were extremely rare to find.
Mario Superstar Baseball
Fire Bro. was playable for the first time in Mario Superstar Baseball as a color swap for Hammer Bro. once he's unlocked. He also appeared on the Bowser team in challenge mode.
