The Saturday Supercade marked Mario's first appearance in an animated series. Produced by Ruby-Spears, it aired on CBS from 1983 to 1985 for two seasons. It featured animated segments based off of popular arcade games, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Q*Bert, Pitfall, Space Ace, Kangaroo, and Frogger. In the Donkey Kong segment, Mario had to rescue his neice, Pauline, from Donkey Kong. In the Donkey Kong Jr. segment, Jr. traveled around the country with a biker named Bones looking for his father, likely tying into the chase around the world that made up Donkey Kong's own segment.
