Mmmm... blubber...

The Whale is, well, a large whale that floats up to Toad Town's docks in Paper Mario. After the first few chapters, he can be seen sleeping with the top of his body sticking out of the water. The locals in the area think he's some sort of island. After Chapter 4 (Shy Guy's Toy Box) is completed, Mario can go to the docks to see the whale right next to a pier. Mario should then stand on the massive mammal and spin jump a few times. The whale will then tell Mario he has a stomach-ache, and ask the plumber to go inside to see what's wrong. Fuzzipede will be inside and Mario must fight him with Watt. Afterwards the whale will give Mario a ride with Kolorado to Lavalava Island (and the adventures of Chapter 5).

Afterwards, the whale can take Mario to and from Lavalava Island. He acts the same as Cortez's ship the Black Skull in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.

The Whale is constantly mistaken for a giant tuna. The most persistant of the mistakes comes from Kolorado.
