- Bowser's method of capturing the Sprixie Princesses in Super Mario 3D World is similar to how Link catches the fairies in The Legend of Zelda series.
- In both Paper Mario: Sticker Star and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, whenever a new character is introduced, the game pauses to show the player their name.
- On the Home Screen of the Nintendo 3DS, blowing into the microphone causes the icons to spin around and/or shake.
