However, they were present in PM2:TTYD as well, and are clearly visible in Super Mario Wiki's screenshot of said game's audience. Koopa Troopas In the Audience
In the section on Super Paper Mario, it states that this game introduces Koopa Troopas as a new species of audience member. However, they were present in PM2:TTYD as well, and are clearly visible in Super Mario Wiki's screenshot of said game's audience.
