Mushroom World refers to the lands from Super Mario Bros. 3. The Mushroom Kingdom serves as a gateway to these lands. In Super Mario Bros. 3, Bowser and the Koopalings have taken over the seven kingdoms of the Mushroom World. They steal the magic wands of each king and transform the kings of each land to various creatures, but Mario and Luigi eventually defeat them and restore the lands and kings to normal. In Super Mario RPG, the area around the Mushroom Kingdom is merely called "Mario's World" in English, and "Mario World" in Japanese (マリオワールド).
In Paper Mario, "Mushroom World" also refers to the Mushroom Kingdom in the Japanese script of Paper Mario.
