- Mario Party 2 (pictured) is the only Mario Party installment for the Nintendo 64 to be released on the Virtual Console.
- The green color of clothing for Luigi was inspired by the enemy Shellcreeper.
- The Wii is the only Nintendo home console to date to not include a Mario game available at launch (with the exception of the Famicom, the Japanese version of the NES, which was released in 1983).
- New Super Luigi U is the first game where Luigi makes a appearance, but Mario doesn't.
