Template:LMDMghost-infobox The Grouchy Possessor is the first boss Luigi faces in the Nintendo 3DS game Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. He is fought in the Gloomy Manor's Cellar where he has taken over the body of a large spider. The Grouchy Possessor is the cause of the spider web infestation inside the mansion and he also has the second Dark Moon piece.
Ghost Container Description
This magnificent ghost possessed a spider queen in his efforts to hold on to his Dark Moon piece. Luigi really had to use his noggin to outsmart this sceptre! He has his moments.
Appearance
The spider he possesses is large and purple. She has four green eyes, a red abdomen, and red and purple legs.
Outside of the spider, the Grouchy Possessor looks like a white ghost with a large horn in the middle of his head, he has two layers of suits, the first one is white, which is seen when Luigi lures it out of the large spider for the first time, the second is yellow. The Dark Moon piece can be seen inside of him.
Battle
During battle, the Grouchy Possessor may attack in several different ways. If Luigi approaches the large spider, it will attack Luigi with its front legs. While Luigi is pulling the webbing from the Possessor's web, it will summon red spiders to attack Luigi. The large spider will also spit out purple goop from its abdomen that travels in a straight line. If Luigi is hit while he is dragging the webbing, he will let go of it and the process needs to be repeated. Each phase change, the large spider will attempt to ram into Luigi. The Grouchy Possessor has 2 layers of suits, the top one is white and the second one is yellow, while it's true appearance is red.
While outside of the spider, the Grouchy Possessor will attack by charging into Luigi. After this attack, the Grouchy Possessor will be temporarily stunned.
In order to attack the Grouchy Possessor while possessing the large spider, Luigi must blind him with the Strobulb when its eyes are open. The large spider controlled by the Grouchy Possessor will climb onto the web and Luigi must use the Poltergust 5000 to drag a wad of webbing while avoiding red spiders to a suit of armor holding a torch nearby which will whack it down on the ground in an attempt to harm Luigi, but if it hits the wad of webbing will cause the web to burn and the large spider to fall onto its back. This will reveal the Grouchy Possessor, which needs to be stunned with the Strobulb in order to be captured, but will attack by charging into Luigi. Though it has infinite HP, this basically means that Luigi has to build up the Shock bar and use it while sucking the Grouchy Possessor and then use it against the Grouchy Possessor Once Luigi has sucked up the Grouchy Possessor, only it's white suit will be sucked up during the first phase. During the second phase, the Grouchy Possessor will move the large spider to ram into Luigi, he must keep to the sides of the walls to avoid being hit, then the large spider controlled by the Grouchy Possessor will move deeper in the Cellar, breaking down a wall while moving into it. This time Luigi must first use the blow function on the Poltergust 5000 on the chandelier to make the brown wad of webbing ignite with the torch that the suit of armor holds to burn down a web on the right to reveal a suit of armor with a spear.
Luigi must then use the Strobulb on the large spider to stun it before dragging the wad of webbing to a suit of armor on the right holding a spear while avoiding red spiders, while avoiding the suit of armor, Luigi must make sure that it pokes into the wad of webbing. After that, Luigi must use the blowing function on the Poltergust 5000 to make the chandelier spin around making the brown wad of webbing ignite on the torch that the suit of armor on the right is holding, which will then ignite the wad of webbing that the suit of armor on the right has poked with it's spear and send the Grouchy Possessor out of the large spider and again start attacking Luigi by ramming into him. Luigi must once again use the Strobulb on the Grouchy Possessor and start sucking it up and Luigi will once again suck up what is revealed as it's yellow suit, in which then the true appearance of the Grouchy Possessor will come out of the suit, which appears as red. Once it returns back into possessing the large spider, it controls it in attempt to ram into Luigi before walking onto the walls again and breaking down another wall at the back.
This time Luigi must grab a ball of webbing near the large spider that the Grouchy Possessor is possessing, and take it to the suit of armor with the torch to ignite it and then take it back while avoiding red spiders and two falling pillars caused by the large spider and take it to the left of the spider queen to burn the web on the right and free the suit of armor that actually holds a torch. Now Luigi must use the Strobulb on the large spider to blind her and then grab the wad of webbing and take it to the torch nearby held by a suit of armor which will whack it on the ground. This will force the Grouchy Possessor out of the spider queen once more. Luigi must avoid it's charging attack and then use the Strobulb and start sucking it up, this time the Grouchy Possessor is inside the Poltergust 5000 and the Dark Moon piece pops out of the Poltergust 5000. Luigi collects it and then the large spider shrinks down to normal size and wakes up with her eyes returned to normal and runs off with a hoard of red spiders following her and running past Luigi while he freaks out, earning Luigi a victory.
