Gritty Goomba

Template:MLinfobox Template:MLinfobox A Gritty Goomba is a Goomba enemy that appears in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. They appear to be swathed in cloth with a spike and colored flag protruding from its head either being red or green depending on its location. They also have stat changes when different colors with the green one having higher stats and the red flag colored one is sand-colored, while the green is more brown. Red ones appear in Teehee Valley while greens appear in Gwarhar Lagoon. It also has sunglasses covering its eyes. A Gritty Goomba is capable of summoning sandstorms. They are also capable of using the cover of sand as a cloak, trying to run into the Mario Bros., who must counter with their Hammers.

In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Mario and Luigi had to protect Princess Peach from these Goombas (along with Spiky Snifits) as she crossed Teehee Valley to get to Little Fungitown. If they failed, the Princess goes down a Warp Pipe to a Gritty Goomba's underground base, which the Mario Bros. can infiltrate to save Peach. After returning to the desert to find the first Beanstar piece, all the Gritty Goombas had been mysteriously replaced by Anuboos.

Trivia

• In the The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, enemies called Goomba Mummies appear. These Mummy Goombas bear a minor resemblance to Gritty Goombas, though this is probably just a coincidence.
