Split Spike Pillar from Pillar

Template:SettledTPP SPLIT 8-4

Here is the thing. I can relate this to many articles. For example, Unagi. A sup-species, Mega Unagi, has its own page. They are different in actions and have different names. Same thing with Spike Pillar and Pillar. Spike Pillars is a different type of Pillar. It should be made into its own article.

Support

  1. Supremo78 (talk) - Of course I'll support my proposal.
  2. Reddragon19k (talk) Per S78!
  3. DKPetey99 (talk) Per proposal. Especially reference to Ungai.
  4. BoygeyDude (talk) There's a BIG difference. The regular pillar is made of wood (possibly, since I can't really tell. :P ), has a flat end, & it's fatter. While the spiked pillar is made of iron, has a pointy end, & it's slightly skinnier.
  5. SWFlash (talk) While everyone's argeeing with Coincollector's option, I think that it worth splitting. They have different size, difference design, different name, different sound effects, different surface, different purpose, and so on. They aren't alike or even similar, so the fact that we have those articlem merged is still a mystery for me. And so I have to say "Per proposal".
  6. Arend (talk) - Per SWFlash. Why keeping a wooden, flat-end, normal-collision pillar, together with a steel (or concrete-like), point-end, damage-collision pillar?
  7. Mario Bros.! (talk) Per Supremo.
  8. YoshiGo99 (talk) Per Proposer.

Oppose

  1. Coincollector (talk) - I'm afraid I have to oppose. Spike Pillar is esentially similar to a Pillar in function, they rise from the surface to crush everythin and that's all. The spikes are the only prominent feature of the Spiked Pillar and can hurt Mario if he touches them, but Spikeless Pillars can also hurt if they are touched. Another controversial observation in the proposal is that you're proposing to create an article with a conjectural name (Looks like there is no official name for these obstacles) which is the only thing that would distingish this from the other but the rest, the information, their function, etc will be same, making this difference pointless.
  2. Goomba's Shoe15 (talk) per above
  3. UltraMario3000 (talk) Per the Collector of Coins.
  4. Zero777 (talk) Per Coincollector
  5. GloopMaster see above

Comments

Like what BoygeyDude (talk) said, there are complete differences in the two pillars. They both have different movements, different names, different appearances. They are not a "specialized version" of Pillar or anything of that junk. It is its own enemy. So frankly, I don't understand your reasoning Coincollector... Oh and @Coincollector, If you say they are pretty much the same, then why does Mega Unagi have its own article? There's one minor difference and one major difference. The minor is that it's just extremely bigger than the regular Unagi, and the major is that it can break though blocks and all of that. Tadaa!2.gifSupremoTadaaa!.gif 21:56, 15 July 2011 (EDT)
Because Mega Unagi is an official name and spike pillar is not Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)

Conjectural titles have nothing to do with the moving or seperation of articles. I see tons of conjectural title articles that are on this wiki, and are perfectly fine. Tadaa!2.gifSupremoTadaaa!.gif 22:07, 15 July 2011 (EDT) @ Supremo78: Yeah, there are many, but tell me if there is a conjectural name basing on another conjectural name (ie: the conjectural name of a subspecies with the main species having a conjectural name too). Despite of your interpretation, you can't add science of a Spike Pillar to make it different of a Spikeless one, for example, different movements -almost all pillars move similarly-, sound... the appearance is right, but arguably the only difference you can countCoincollector (talk)
