Template:Articleabout Template:Item-infobox Gold Rings are objects that appear in New Super Mario Bros. 2[1]. They are similar in appearance to the Coin Rings from Super Mario 3D Land. If Mario or Luigi passes through one of these, some enemies will turn golden[2]. In this state, five coins are given for each defeated enemy. If multiple enemies are defeated consecutively (either by stomping on them without touching the ground or using a Koopa Troopa shell), the number of coins earned is increased by 5 for each consecutive enemy (i.e. 10, 15, 20, and so on). Additionally, while in their golden form, most enemies leave trails of coins behind as they move, or even throw coins instead of their usual projectiles.

Enemies List

Name Description
Goomba Acts just like a normal Goomba.
Koopa Troopa Leaves a trail of coins behind in its wake when its shell is kicked.
Piranha Plant When defeated, coins spout out of the place they were found.
Bullet Bill / Banzai Bill Leaves rows of coins behind as they fly, similar to Koopa Troopas.
Lakitu Drops three coins at a time instead of Spinies, similar to Lakitus that spawn from Lakitu Blocks in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. If the player rides the Lakitu's cloud, it generates coins similar to the Gold Block.
Hammer Bro. / Fire Bro. Throws three coins at a time at Mario/Luigi instead of hammers.
Boo / Big Boo Leaves behind coins as they float away from Mario/Luigi.
Cheep-Cheep Has a trail of five coins following it as it leaps out of the water.
