Template:Series-infobox The Mario Tennis series is a series of six tennis games that feature Mario and his friends playing tennis. These games include: Mario's Tennis for the Virtual Boy, Mario Tennis for the Game Boy Color, Mario Tennis for the Nintendo 64, Mario's Tennis, Mario Tennis: Power Tour for the Game Boy Advance, Mario Power Tennis for the Nintendo GameCube, and New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis for the Wii, as well as Mario Tennis Open for the Nintendo 3DS. Half of the series have a very large amount of characters, that were only featured in the Mario Tennis series.
Main Games
Mario's Tennis
Mario's Tennis is a Virtual Boy game, the first in the Mario Tennis series. It was later followed by Mario Tennis for the Nintendo 64. It features Mario and his friends playing a classic game of tennis. The game was one of the first Virtual Boy games to be released and is one out of the only three Mario games to be released on the Virtual Boy.
Mario Tennis (Nintendo 64)
Mario Tennis is a Nintendo 64 video game, later released for the Game Boy Color. It features Mario and his friends playing a classic game of tennis, with a few Mario twists. It was originally going to be called Mario's Dream Tennis, but was changed for unknown reasons. This game marked the debut of Waluigi, and also Princess Daisy and Birdo's re-entries into the Mario series.
Mario Tennis (Game Boy Color)
Mario Tennis is a tennis game for the Game Boy Color. The game features Mario and other characters.
Mario Power Tennis
Mario Power Tennis is a game for the Nintendo GameCube. It is the sequel of Mario Tennis for the Nintendo 64. In this game, Mario and his various friends (and enemies) meet up to play a few rounds of tennis. Like previous Mario sports titles, all the playable characters have special Power Shots to make the game more interesting. Additionally, there are courts in the game that have special effects and events during the game. Also, there are special games for each court to play with.
Mario Tennis: Power Tour
Mario Tennis: Power Tour is very similar to its GameCube counterpart, except it is for the Game Boy Advance. It brings back the RPG elements of its predecessor. The game is not compatible with Mario Power Tennis like its golf counterpart. The PAL region's name for that game is Mario Power Tennis (same as the GameCube game).
Mario Tennis Open
Mario Tennis Open is the newest title to the series for the Nintendo 3DS. It is based off of Mario Power Tennis from the Nintendo GameCube. This game features gyroscope support and online multiplayer (via Nintendo Network).
Ports
New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis
This game is a port of Mario Power Tennis for the Nintendo GameCube. For the Wii version of Mario Power Tennis (via the New Play Control! lineup), the controls are not like the Nintendo Gamecube version, since the game makes use of the Wii's motion controls. This version includes a tutorial movie to demonstrate how to use the Wii Remote in this game. Players can choose to play with the Wii Remote only, or with the Wii Remote/Nunchuk combination for advanced control of playable character participants.
