The Ratigator.
The Ratigator is a creature with characteristics of a both a rat and an alligator. Its name is a portmanteau of the words "rat" and "alligator" for this reason. It appeared occasionally during the live action segments of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show, and had access to Mario Bros. Plumbing through the sewers.
