A ramp is an obstacle found commonly in the Mario Kart series. When used correctly, ramps have the capacity to propel players high into the air, usually over long drops and distances. Ramps are also commonly paired with Boost Pads to reach longer distances. In Mario Kart Wii, characters can perform tricks after being launched off of ramps. Another ramp (sometimes referred to as a Rainbow Ramp) is capable of launching players further and higher than normal ramps. In Mario Kart Wii, characters can not perform tricks off of these ramps. These are not to be confused with Ramps that have Rainbow Boosts on them. In Mario Kart 7 blue ramps can be used to glide off.
