Shigefumi Hino (日野 重文 Hino Shigefumi) is the designer for a few Mario, games including Super Mario World, and thus he also was the original designer of Yoshi among many other characters from the aforementioned game. Other notable works include his direction of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Pikmin 2.
