Racers that come closer to the driver with the items of the Lucky 7 can be hit by the Shells or the Bananas. However, the item has a drawback in that if one of the racer's opponents drives into a Bob-omb or Star, the player will suffer from the negative effects of the Bob-omb or an opponent can take the effect of the star away from the player.<ref>[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smzPV4k_J-8 <nowiki>[MK7]</nowiki> Lucky 7 Item Gone Wrong]</ref>
Like Triple Green or Red Shells, opposing racers that get too close will be hit by the circling items. As one would expect, a Banana or Shell will simply hit the opponent, while Mushrooms or Stars will give the opponent their boost, and a Bob-omb will explode and assuredly take out any items that had yet to be used. <ref>[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smzPV4k_J-8 <nowiki>[MK7]</nowiki> Lucky 7 Item Gone Wrong]</ref>

Peach under the effect of the Lucky 7 in Mario Kart 7.

The Lucky 7 first debuted in Mario Kart 7. It is one of the items found in the Item Boxes. When used, seven items will appear surrounding the racer's kart by rotating similar to the Triple Green or Red Shells. The racer can then use them one by one when the item is in front of the player[1]. The items that the racer gets may vary. The player can obtain, for example, Green Shells, Red Shells, Bananas, Mushrooms, Stars, Blooper, or Bob-ombs.
