The Whale is a large marine mammal mostly round on our planet, Earth, of course, but a whale resides in Toad Town's docks in Paper Mario. After the first few chapters, he can be seen sleeping with the top of his body sticking out of the water. The locals in the area think he's some sort of island. After Chapter 4 (Shy Guy's Toy Box) is completed, Mario can go to the docks to see the whale right next to a pier. Mario should then stand on the massive mammal and Spin Jump a few times. The whale will then tell Mario he has a stomach-ache, and ask the plumber to go inside to see what's wrong. Fuzzipede will be inside and Mario must fight him with Watt. Afterwards the whale will give Mario a ride with Kolorado to Lavalava Island (and the adventures of Chapter 5).

The title of this article is conjectural; an official name for the article's subject has not been found, so it has been given a fitting title by the editors. If an official name is found, then the article should be moved to its appropriate title.

The Whale is a large marine mammal mostly found on Earth, but a whale resides in Toad Town's docks in Paper Mario.

Afterwards, the whale can take Mario to and from Lavalava Island. He acts the same as Cortez's ship the Black Skull in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.

The Whale is constantly mistaken for a giant tuna. The most persistent in the mistake comes from Kolorado.

A Whale also appears in Mario Party 5 in the Undersea Dream gameboard. This Whale is also friendly and helpful. It is unknown if this is the same whale or another whale.

Whales also appears in level 4-2 of Super Mario Bros. 2, where players can hop on their backs and gain elevation by standing on their blow holes as water sprays out. The water will hurt the player if they touch it from the side.
