The title of this article is conjectural; an official name for the article's subject has not been found, so it has been given a fitting title by the editors. If an official name is found, then the article should be moved to its appropriate title.
Bats are enemies from the game Donkey Kong on the Game Boy. Bats make their first appearance in stage 4-5 in the Jungle. They fly horizontally across the screen. When they hit Mario, they hang onto him and appear to suck a little bit of blood out of him. Mario's face turns white (in the colored Super Game Boy version) and he falls off the rope he is currently climbing. After falling to the ground, Mario gets up again. Mario can also get defeated by the bats if he falls too far after dropping from the rope.
Bats also appear in Donkey Kong 64, where they'll attack any Kongs who get close to them.
After a long absence they appear again in Mario vs. Donkey Kong as enemies in certain levels.
