Mr. Sun's appearance is based on that of an anthropomorphic sun. He shares this trait with the Angry Sun from Super Mario Bros. 3 and Brighton from Mario Party 6. Another character modeled after the sun is Mr. Bright from the Kirby series.

The sun[1][2][3] is an invulnerable enemy in Wario Land 3 found in the daytime only. It flies around and spits fireballs at Wario that trigger Hot Wario if touched, causing him to run in a frenzy. This enemy appears in The Vast Plain and The Colossal Hole. In the latter, if Wario is below the sky, the sun does not pursue him. During the night, it is replaced by Mr. Moon.

The sun's appearance is similar to that of the Angry Sun from Super Mario Bros. 3, and it shares the same generic name in Japanese.
