The level beings outside, where the player has to climb up pegs. They should attack the first Flitter, then face the breakable wall and use the A Button to attack, where they can then destroy the wooden barrels and obtain the Oil Barrel. They should then climb higher up the pegs towards the left and attack the second Flitter who will give the player the first of the level's Banana Coins. The player should then climb further up the pegs, jump into the Booster Barrel. They will be launched onto a ledge. The player should jump down and collect the K, then jump back onto the ledge and continue onto the next section.

The level starts outside a cave, where Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong must climb up some pegs. Immediately afterward, they encounter a Flitter and a breakable wall on the right side. There are three breakable wooden barrels behind the wall, which the Kongs can break for the oil barrel. The Kongs must then climb up higher and go left to attack the second Flitter, which has the first Banana Coin. The Kongs must jump into a nearby Booster Barrel, which blasts them through a breakable wall and onto a ledge leading into the caverns. Additionally, the letter K is sitting just outside the cave entrance.

The player will now be in a cave. They should walk over to the right, where they will see a large boulder with pegs on it. They should grab onto the left side of the boulder, and it will start rolling in that direction. The player should climb up the side of this boulder to keep it rolling towards the left. Once in reach, the player will be able to obtain the second Banana Coin. They should then roll the boulder towards the right, then jump onto the rock ledge. The player should then touch the DK Barrel, then they will team up with Diddy Kong. The player should then climb up the pegs, and attack the Neek. They should should then jump onto the boulder and roll it over the the wall on the right and then climb up the pegs. They should jump into the Booster Barrel, and they will get launched over to the other side. They should then jump into the other Booster Barrel, then collect the O and the third Banana Coin, then jump down back into the Booster Barrel. They can then continue on to the next section.
In the cave, the Kongs must grab onto a large boulder. The direction in which the boulder moves depends on which side of the boulder the Kongs are spinning on. The Kongs can spin the boulder left to reach the second Banana Coin, or spin right to continue moving through the level. By spinning it to the right a bit, the Kongs can jump onto a nearby ledge. An assortment of pegs, a Neek, and a DK Barrel are located directly above them. The Kongs must pass the Neek and hang onto another boulder. By spinning it to the right, the Kongs can break the adjacent barrel containing a Banana Bunch. By rolling it to the left, the Kongs can go onto another ledge with another set of pegs patrolled by a Neek, and a Booster Barrel above it. The Kongs can skip this segment if they jump up from the boulder midway and grab onto a peg board with a Booster Barrel located directly above it, and a 10-count Banana Bunch in between. The previous Booster Barrel blasts directly to this segment. By jumping into the following Booster Barrel, the Kongs are blasted off a wall and onto a high platform, where they can either continue walking left to obtain the letter O and the third Banana Coin, or move right past the arrow sign and into the following area.

In this next section, they player will see Cranky Kong. He will explain about the Diddy Attack. When this lecture is over, the player should touch the DK Barrel (if they don't already have Diddy), and then grab onto the pegs and use the Diddy Attack to grab the fourth Banana Coin. They should then use the Diddy Attack to hot the wooden barrel marked with an ? to make more pegs appear. The player should then climb up these pegs and then attack another ? barrel to make another set of pegs appear. Again, the player should climb up these pegs, and use the Diddy Attack to attack the breakable wall and destroy another ? barrel. The player should then grab the N.
In the third section, the Kongs encounter Cranky Kong, who gives a lecture on using Diddy Attack. There is a DK Barrel directly to the right, specifically for if Donkey Kong is not paired up with Diddy. The Kongs can use Diddy Attack while facing northeast to collect the fourth Banana Coin, and must blast Diddy vertically to a Question Barrel, revealing five more peg boards. After climbing these peg boards, the Kongs must jump to a peg board above a small ledge on the right side and use Diddy Attack to break another Question Barrel, causing another assortment of peg boards to appear. The Kongs must continue to the left, where they must break a third Question Barrel, this one being enclosed by a wall. The Kongs must use Diddy Attack again to blast into the third Question Barrel, directly through the breakable blocks beneath it. This spawns even more pegboards, which the Kongs can climb up and do a jump attack from to obtain the letter N. The pegboards are to the left of a ground platform leading directly into the next section.

The player should now climb over to the right and attack the Neek. They should then use the Diddy Attack on the two wooden barrels above the pegs where the Neek was (the one closest to the wall contains the final Banana Coin). The player should then climb up the pegs on the left, attack the two breakable walls, and then, carefully avoiding or attacking the bats, use the Diddy Attack to hit the ? barrel. They should then climb up the pegs, grab the G and then climb up the pegs and out of the cave. They then has to climb up the outside pegs and jump into the gap on the left. Here, the player can use the Diddy Attack to collect jewels and, with careful aiming, the DK Coin.
The fourth and final section has three vertical paths, with the leftmost being the main path and the other two each having a breakable barrel, which can only be reached from using Diddy Attack. There is a Neek moving around on a square assortment of four peg boards, which is positioned between and below the second and third paths. By using Diddy Attack on the barrel from the rightmost path, the Kongs can obtain the fifth Banana Coin. The middle path has a barrel with a 10-count Banana Bunch. The Kongs must blast into a set of two breakable walls leading farther into the level. By breaking them and traveling upward, Donkey Kong and Diddy end up in a section with a couple of Flipflaps. They can use Diddy Attack on the fourth and final Question Barrel to spawn more peg boards, which they can climb on to reach the letter G, floating above a small, hovering platform. The Kongs can vertically blast through two sets of breakable walls, allowing them to jump from two more pegboards and continue upward into an isolated room appearing to take place outside. They also have an option to go from the slightly longer left path, which is guarded by a Flipflap. The final, outer room only has a floating pegboard and the Goal Gate on the right side. The Kongs can optionally go through a path at the top-left corner to enter a hidden room with the DK Coin and numerous gems.

The player can then go back outside and walk through the exit gate, therefore gaining acces to 1-5: Cliffy Peak.

Layout[edit]

The Kongs break open one of Cool Cool Cave's paths using Diddy Attack

The fourth and final section has three vertical paths, with the leftmost being the main path and the other two each having a breakable barrel, which can only be reached from using Diddy Attack. There is a Neek moving around on a square assortment of four peg boards, which is positioned between and below the second and third paths.
