== Enemy names... == | |||
I've managed to pick up the Japanese names for most of the enemies from the Japanese equivalent of this wiki and figured out which enemy ties to which name, so I'm going to be moving a lot of these pages to these names due to the lack of English ones (much like I did with the enemies in Super Mario Land 2). However, it's a lot of work for one person, so if there are any redirects I leave behind, please help me fix them, thank you. *Wait. Are these names actually official? Zakor1138 (talk) 00:13, 3 February 2014 (EST)
I'm curious too, does the Japanese wiki provide any source for the names? I've been told by some hardcore Mario fans that Japanese wiki names usally match up with obscure guides & whatnot, but I'm still leery on trusting Japanese fansites because they're Japanese. --Glowsquid (talk) 12:05, 4 February 2014 (EST)
:A few of the names match up with those in Mario Vs. Donkey Kong based on scans I found of guides on eBay (others are slightly different, such as Dustman to Bucketman, but that suggests that it's not made up and the name was just slightly different to avoid Mega Man connections or meant to represent a variation) so I'm guessing these are not pulled from nowhere. I mainly got them from here... which has NEARLY 100% accuracy on almost everything, and I double checked as much as possible to make sure I got them right. Their names for SML2 (and Wario Land I believe) were accurate, so I am going to go on a limb and suggest these are too. I would love to find a guide but haven't had much luck so far, so this is the best I can do, I'm afraid. Usually if an enemy is not named it isn't even listed on that site, so I doubt they pulled the names from thin air. If you want to double check what I've done, do an Advanced Google search and put that site address in and search for the words "ドンキーコングGB". If anyone can find any other sources that would be great, I have seen them mentioned on other sites but not many.
:I think they originated from a guide, rather than the Japanese manual, as the 3DS VC JP manual (which you can find on Nintendo's Japanese site) lists the same five enemies as the English one.
:My educated guess is that these are indeed official, but their spellings may be slightly off as it seems they are not well known even on Japanese sites. I know this isn't ideal and it is slightly sketchy, but it's better than just calling them "octopus" and "monkey" and so on. It can always be improved in future. On that note, I've just found out that Monkikki is the exact same enemy as Monchee from Mario Vs. DK, so I'll merge those together. Sir Shovalot is definitely the same, too. Enemies[edit]
This game has many unique enemies, but they're not listed here nor in the Enemies page. I could provide some screenshots, but I don't know their names and I have never seen any official artwork. If someone knows a source of information I think an editing is needed.--Kombatgod 12:01, 12 April 2009 (EDT)
- Seeing as we don't know any offical names, perhaps we should only create a List of Donkey Kong (Game Boy) Enemies for now - that way we'll avoid tonnes of speculatively-named stubs. The game is really rare, so I doubt there's much coverage out there, but we'll try our hardest to find sources. - Walkazo 13:05, 12 April 2009 (EDT)
Donkey Kong Plus[edit]

Official Artwork from the manual?[edit]
Other than this lucky one picture of Donkey Kong, I couldn't find any official artwork of this game out there. But I do have the original manual which shows quite a few artworks of Mario doing some special moves that we don't have on the wiki yet. Should I scan the manual? It is in an okay condition, but I feel that the quality is not going to be that great considering the images themselves are a bit small. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 10:44, 3 January 2010 (EST)
- Well, a try shouldn't hurt anyone. We can decide afterwards if the quality is too low. -

- Some more artwork from the manual can be found here (but the first Pauline artwork doesn't belong there). The artwork was also printed in full-colour and much bigger in the German Club Nintendo magazine and the Game Boy Spieleberater 2, but I have neither on hand right now (and scanning would also take some time). --Grandy02 11:56, 3 January 2010 (EST)
