Tara Lyn Strong (née Charendoff) is a Canadian-American actress who has been active since 1986, and has acted in many animated and live-action productions in both the television and film industries. Notable examples include Bubbles from The Powerpuff Girls, Timmy Turner from The Fairly OddParents, Raven in the Teen Titans TV series and its spin-off Teen Titans Go!, Twilight Sparkle from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, and Rikku from Final Fantasy X.
Tara Strong's only credited Super Mario-related role is providing the voice for Hop Koopa in The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World animated series. She is commonly mistakenly thought to have also voiced Hip Koopa as well, with her official website stating so at one point; Hip Koopa was actually voiced by Stuart Stone.[1] In addition to that, her official website once credited her as the uncredited voice of Bowser Jr. in Super Mario Sunshine[2], but this detail has been removed. According to game's credits, Bowser Jr's voice is actually done by Dolores Rogers.
Strong was critical of the casting decisions for The Super Mario Bros. Movie, condemning major film studios' decision to cast celebrity actors to voice characters for animated films instead of actors trained specifically for voice work.[3][4] On Twitter, she encouraged users to share positive stories regarding Charles Martinet in support of him[5], garnering a positive reaction from Martinet.[6]
