They were different from Fly Guys (which also appeared in the game) due to the fact that they flew via little helicopters on their backs. The Flying Shy Guy would fly around dangling fruit just out of Yoshi's reach, but could be defeated like any other [[Shy Guy]]. An exception was the elite [[Black Shy Guy]], which has its own special characteristics.
