Foopflies are fly-like enemies in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. They are encountered in the underground area of Bulbfish Island, where they chase after and spit rocks at Mario and Luigi if it sees them. Foopflies are large pink flies with black and white goggle-like eyes, long yellow mouths and yellow bottoms. They also have two black legs.
In the field, Foopflies generally fly aimlessly around, but will shoot at intruders in their territory.
Stronger versions of Foopflies, known as Foopfly Rs, appear in Fortress Zokket. Later on in the game, Foopflies become infected with Glohm, becoming Glohm Foopflies.
Battle[edit]
In battle Foopflies fly above the ground, so some attacks will miss them. They have three attacks:
- They can fly in front of Mario or Luigi and spit rocks, which must be jumped to avoid. After each rock, the Foopfly advances closer to their target. When they are close enough, they will fly into the character. Jumping on them will counterattack them. If Mario or Luigi gets hurt from a rock, the Foopfly will laugh, ending the attack. This attack is similar to the spit-and-advance attack of the Sneed from Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story.
- Foopflies can move close to a brother and spit out three rocks in the air, the third one being larger than the first two. The speed the rocks get spit out varies. The first two rocks miss, but the third will land on Mario or Luigi. They must defend by using their hammers to repel the rock back at the attacking Foopfly.
- A Foopfly can fly up and land directly in front of Mario or Luigi, spinning around. The Foopfly will then spin slower and slower, eventually stopping and spitting out a rock at whoever is closest to them. This attack must be countered by using the hammer. When the Foopfly is attacked, it will stop and spit out a rock in the direction it is facing. The rock can hit the other character, as well as another enemy. If the Foopfly is defeated by the counterattack, no rock will be spit out. This attack is similar to one of the attacks of an Eyepi'illo.
Foopflies are of Level 20, and their defeat nets 166 EXP, 88 Coins, and probably a Bulbfish Lantern.
