King Koopa Katastrophe is the first DVD out of four in the thematic DVD series of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 (it was also released as the last VHS of the series). It was released on July 22, 2003, by Sterling Entertainment, unlike the later ones released by NCircle Entertainment. King Koopa Katastrophe does not have an actual theme, but it contains six of the first eight episodes of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 (excluding "Mind Your Mummy Mommy, Mario" and "Princess Toadstool for President").
The significance of this DVD, aside from being the first of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3, is the fact that the original covers in "The Beauty of Kootie," "Toddler Terrors of Time Travel," and "Reign Storm" were not removed from it, unlike in later releases of these episodes that played the instrumental of "Mega Move" from Captain N: The Game Master.
Episodes[edit]
- Episode 1: "Sneaky Lying Cheating Giant Ninja Koopas"
- Episode 2: "Reptiles in the Rose Garden"
- Episode 4: "The Beauty of Kootie"
- Episode 6: "Never Koop a Koopa"
- Episode 7: "Reign Storm"
- Episode 8: "Toddler Terrors of Time Travel"
- Bonus episode: "Sonic Tonic" of Sonic Underground (removed in the NCircle Entertainment rerelease)
Trivia[edit]
- The advertisement promoting this DVD (seen on a few General Mills DIC promotional DVDs and a few of Sterling Entertainment VHSes) reuses a majority of the footage of the Mario's Greatest Movie Moments commercial. It showcases three episodes of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! instead of any of the final ones: "Robo Koopa," "Count Koopula," and "Mario Meets Koop-zilla."
- Later releases of this DVD by NCircle Entertainment would be erroneously titled as a set for The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, despite the fact that the DVD contains only episodes of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3.
