World 3-3 is the third level of World 3 in Super Mario Bros. Special. It is similar in design to World 3-3 in Super Mario Bros..

Layout[edit]

After the initial stretch of ground, there are two platforms, with a pair of Little Goombas on the second one. There is a Flimsy Lift, a platform, and then a Vertical Lift, leading to a cluster of several platforms. There is a red Koopa Troopa on the highest platform, and a ? Block with a Magic Mushroom or Fire Flower. The pipe to the bonus area is here, accessed by passing through a small gap with Small Mario. There is also an out-of-the-way Hidden Block containing a single coin, found under the lip of the lower-middle platform.

The bonus area has an uneven floor and ceiling, with the floor being completely covered in coins. There are a handful of small pits at the beginning and end of the section. In the middle, the ceiling contains a Brick Block with a 1-Up Mushroom. To obtain the 1-Up Mushroom, Mario must follow it as it moves across the ceiling; it will fall into a small, winding tunnel which brings it to where it can be accessed.

After the main area's cluster of platforms is another Vertical Lift which leads to a wide platform with three smaller platforms in a row above it. A red Koopa Troopa patrols the wide platform, and there are Hidden Blocks which can be used to get from the lower platform to the higher ones. After this is a Balance Lift, two Flimsy Lifts, and a solo platform, leading to a pair of platforms with a pipe, which is where Mario ends up when exiting the bonus area. A final Flimsy Lift and Balance Lift leads directly to the flagpole.
