Switch Star in the Basement is the seventh and final mission of Big Boo's Haunt, exclusive to Super Mario 64 DS. The mission's objective is to collect the Switch Star near the merry-go-round.
Layout[edit]
In order to complete this mission, the player must have Wario unlocked. The player has to make their way to the basement of the mansion by using the elevator in the shack. Once the player is in the hall surrounding the merry-go-round, Wario has to break the Black Brick covering the Star Switch. Once it is stepped on, the Power Star appears in the Star Sphere on the opposite side of the room. The player has to rush to collect the Power Star before it disappears. Because of Wario's low running speed, the mission can be made easier if the player uncovers the switch and then collects the Mario Cap within the basement to reach the Star Sphere by running along the edge of the basement. Alternatively, once the Star Switch is uncovered, Luigi can collect the Power Flower on the mansion's second floor and fall to the basement via the trapdoors. After activating the Star Switch while invisible, he can pass through the wire fencing separating the Star Sphere and Star Switch.
