The name "Toy Tank" is unsourced. The ancient comment above that the in-game targeting system uses it confuses me, since it is 100% false. There is no hint of the name "Toy Tank" anywhere in-game - not the targeting text, not General Guy's dialogue, and not the Tattle. Barring the various Shy Guy minions, the only targets during the fight are "General Guy" and "Bulb". The game treats the tank as completely interchangeable with its pilot, so there is no reason for it to be a separate article. ::From looking at the researched pages above, I can confirm with reasonable certainty that the name "Toy Tank" is simply a false name conjured before the Mario Wiki's article on the subject was created, with the name being based solely on the fact that General Guy's tattle mentions the tank being a toy. Any mentions of the name "Toy Tank" after the article's creation most likely took the name "Toy Tank" to be correct. However, the actually correct name of the subject is most likely simply "General Guy's tank", which is corroborated by the Tattle, as on top of making no reference to the name "Toy Tank", it mentions "his tank" instead, as well as simply "the tank" multiple times. Therefore, since the tank is tied directly to the battle against General Guy in Paper Mario, information on his tank is better suited to the General Guy article. In accordance with this, I've moved such information to General Guy, and changed both Toy Tank and Tank (Paper Mario) to redirect to that article. --ThePowerPlayer (talk) 15:09, July 16, 2022 (EDT)

Merge with General Guy[edit]

The name "Toy Tank" is unsourced. The ancient comment above that the in-game targeting system uses it confuses me, since it is 100% false. There is no hint of the name "Toy Tank" anywhere in-game - not the targeting text, not General Guy's dialogue, and not the Tattle. Barring the various Shy Guy minions, the only targets during the fight are "General Guy" and "Bulb". The game treats the tank as completely interchangeable with its pilot, so there is no reason for it to be a separate article. I kinda feel the same way about the Stompybot 3000 being inextricably tied to Colonel Pluck, but at least that has an official name; this doesn't. The name's not in the Nintendo Power guide either. After doing some extensive research (searching paper mario "toy tank" and general guy "toy tank"), the only evidence on the Internet I could even find for the name "Toy Tank" are this Fandom article, this Giant Bomb "Character Wiki" article which doesn't treat "toy tank" as a proper noun, and some Amino posts by Mario fans. The Fandom article is from 2017, Amino was released in 2016, and Giant Bomb in 2008, all of which predate our Toy Tank article being created in 2006. Seeing as how nothing official suggests that "Toy Tank" is the tank's name, I think it's safe to at least use the conjectural name template instead of the citation needed one. From looking at the researched pages above, I can confirm with reasonable certainty that the name "Toy Tank" is simply a false name conjured before the Mario Wiki's article on the subject was created, with the name being based solely on the fact that General Guy's tattle mentions the tank being a toy.
