I think it's safe to say they were supposed to be the same thing. Not only ''that'', but SMW2 already brought back Shy Guys en masse, Snifits, ''and'' [[Harry Hedgehog|a variation of Porcupo]] (not to mention the unused Tweeter thing), so it's clear there's a good amount of SMB2 influence. Furthermore, our only source for Piro Dangle also made up crufty names for other established entities, like [[Cheep Cheep|Flopsy Fish]] and [[Spike|Mace Penguin]].

LinkTheLefty (talk) - My reservation before was based on the fact that other variants simply started off as "Sparks" as well, but Yoshi's New Island released after those and retained the original name, despite taking the opportunity to rename some other enemies, so this change would reflect current information.
