:We avoid categorizing ''Mario Kart Tour'', as its courses are made by the ''Mario Kart 8'' team and also have a specific ''mob'' platform code just like the courses of the console ''Mario Kart'' titles. All the courses covered here have a platform code given by the ''Mario Kart 8'' team, including those of ''Mario Kart Tour'', and the ''new'' term is used specifically in the recent console games and in ''Mario Kart Tour'' as well. With that being said, if people are willing to cover the ''Mario Kart Arcade GP'' courses and the ''Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit'' themes I see no harm in doing so, at best if we need to organize the page afterwards we can separate the courses with platform codes from the console team (console ''Mario Kart'' + ''Mario Kart Tour'') from the other courses.--[[User:Mister Wu|Mister Wu]] ([[User talk:Mister Wu|talk]]) 08:18, October 3, 2021 (EDT) |

The article lists every course that's new to a Mario Kart game, even though they're only officially called that in DS onwards. However, this fact is only acknowledged in one sentence (which was my addition, by the way).

Remove all pre-DS courses[edit]
Split the pre-DS courses into another article[edit]
- RickTommy (talk)
- FanOfYoshi (talk) Per proposal.
Revise the article so as to not imply they're called that pre-DS[edit]
- Owencrazyboy9 (talk) I feel this is the best option. Like RickTommy pointed out, the courses from the original Super Mario Kart to Double Dash! weren't referred to as Nitro Courses, until Mario Kart DS onwards. Minor article revision to use that term consistently with Mario Kart DS onwards is the best option, but splitting the information away is just overkill and, in my opinion, unnecessary.
- Doomhiker (talk) The article already does not really imply that the term existed before DS, but okay. Anyways, just because a thing was not named (with the exception of the new tracks in Super Circuit) until later does not mean it did not exist before. Really, Nitro Courses is just a term for brand-new courses in a Mario Kart game, same with Super Circuit Tracks, so splitting older ones due to them no getting a name or having a different one until later is unneeded.
- FanOfYoshi (talk) Second option, per all.
Other[edit]
Do nothing[edit]
- Alex95 (talk) - Just because it's a term that was introduced halfway into the series doesn't mean it doesn't refer to past games. While Super Circuit had a different name to go by, Nitro Course is a good catch-all term to refer to any original courses.
- Waluigi Time (talk) Per Alex. Super Circuit aside, these courses had no name to go by before DS, and we retroactively apply names to subjects that previously didn't have one all the time. I don't see the point of splitting when it's the exact same concept, just unnamed.
- Owencrazyboy9 (talk) Second option. Of course, this is taking into consideration that subjects with many names most often use the most recent one for its page title. Per all.
- Doomhiker (talk) Second option, per my reasons above, also per all.
- Yoshi the SSM (talk) Per all. I read the article, and I can't think of anything that needs to be changed. Even Super Circuit Track redirect to this page. And besides, the cups are fine as they are due to them always being the same. And we don't need to make a difference within the cups. The intro already covers this.
- Toadette the Achiever (talk) Per all.
- Trig Jegman (talk) That'd be so much work to shuffle around pages/redirects/files for something that is a non-issue. Alex nailed it on the head.
- TheFlameChomp (talk) Per all.
- LudwigVon (talk) Per all.
- Sdman213 (talk) Per all.
- TheDarkStar (talk) Per all.
- Obsessive Mario Fan (talk) "Nitro Courses" is just the most recent name used. Per all.
- bwburke94 (talk) Per all... but what games actually use this term?
- BBQ Turtle (talk) Per all.
Comments[edit]
I'm confused over why wouldn't we be changing anything. -- FanOfYoshi 02:14, July 18, 2019 (EDT)
- Because the article already states that the term was first used in Mario Kart DS (and does not imply that it was used earlier at all), and Nitro Course just refers to original courses in general, so just because that name was different or not there previously does not mean it did not exist then, and that we should split the pages. Read the "Revise the article so as to not imply they're called that pre-DS" and "Do nothing" votes. Doomhiker (talk) 09:54, July 18, 2019 (EDT)
- The sentence in question, like I said, was my own addition as a precursor to this proposal. RickTommy (talk) 09:31, July 21, 2019 (EDT)
Mario Kart Tour's Original Courses are Missing![edit]
Do I even have to say any more? This article should cover all original courses from the 9 main Mario Kart games, so Tour's courses not being featured here is an issue! ((Little Garfield) (talk) January 30, 2021, 12:23 PM (EST)
Mario Kart Arcade GP[edit]
