| The '''Waterfall Basin''' is a location in the [[Cascade Kingdom]] in ''[[Super Mario Odyssey]]''. It makes up the starting area where [[Mario]] finds himself after escaping [[Cap Kingdom]]. During future visits, the [[Odyssey]] lands in this area. In this area, there is a [[Checkpoint Flag]], which is essentially discarded and replaced with the one on the Odyssey later on. South of the Checkpoint Flag, on a small ledge overlooking the abyss, are three regional coins. Nearby is a pole Mario can climb up to get a view of what awaits him up ahead.

| Shortly ahead, between the basin and the waterfall, are a few piles of dirt and fossils. Additionally, there is a [[Chain Chomp]] in the area as well as a [[Crazy Cap]] station which shows up later in the game.
