World 1-3 is the third level of World 1 in Super Mario Bros. and the third level overall in said game. It involves maneuvering on large trees.

World 5-3 is a harder version of this level, with shorter lifts and Bullet Bills fired left; an exact copy of that level replaces this one in Hard Mode.

In Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3, this level was recreated as Classic World 1-3. It also appears in Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS as World 3-1 in the Super Mario Challenge.

Layout[edit]

After a small ground area, the player will reach a giant tree that can be used to reach two more trees, containing a Koopa Troopa and three coins. Ahead, are three more trees, with the higher one having two Little Goombas walk along it. From the top of the third and taller tree, a shorter tree can be reached, and there will be a platform that can help the player reach the top of a tall tree with four coins. Under this tree, a shorter one contains the only ? Block of the level that contains a power-up. Afterward are a two trees followed by a Koopa Paratroopa and another tree with a Little Goomba. Next are two horizontally moving platforms with coins above them. There will then be two trees, the first one is small and of medium width, while the other is wide and tall and has a Koopa Troopa on it. A short tree with three coins is under a Koopa Paratroopa after it. There will be two similar trees that can be used to reach a platform that can be used to jump onto the stone platform before the flagpole.

Super Mario Bros. Deluxe challenges[edit]

In Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, the player can collect five Red Coins, find a hidden Yoshi Egg, and get a medal based on their score. The Yoshi Egg is found in a Hidden Block above the platform that is just after the third moving lift, and the score to beat is 24000 (19000 in the Japanese version[1]). The Red Coin locations are:

  • On the first platform with the red Koopa Troopa.
  • At the bottom of the first lift.
  • Over the second moving lift.
  • On the platform with the Paratroopa above it.
  • At the bottom of the stone stairs before the end of the level.
