The Bone Rattler is one of four downloadable vehicle bodies in the Animal Crossing × Mario Kart 8 DLC pack, from Mario Kart 8. It is Dry Bowser's signature ATV and it is supposedly based on him, but unlike most ATVs, the Bone Rattler only has three wheels, more referencing a trike. An Undead Motors logo and the emblem can be seen on the back of the vehicle, and the seat has a similar pattern and color scheme to Dry Bowser's shell.
In terms of its stats, the Bone Rattler shares its stats with the Tanooki Kart, which is available in the The Legend of Zelda × Mario Kart 8 DLC pack; it boosts weight and traction, at the expense of acceleration and handling, but the boosts and drops are less extreme when compared to the Steel Driver, Tri-Speeder, Badwagon, GLA, and Standard ATV. It shares the same engine sound with the Master Cycle, which is an inline-twin engine but with a slightly different exhaust noise.
In races, a CPU-controlled Dry Bowser will sometimes use this vehicle paired with the Monster tires. This is the only ATV to be used by only one CPU as opposed to the other ATVs which have at least two CPUs that use them. The 150cc staff ghost for 3DS Neo Bowser City uses Dry Bowser on the Bone Rattler with the Metal tires.
In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, it is now randomly unlocked by collecting coins. A CPU-controlled Dry Bowser will sometimes use this vehicle paired with the Metal tires instead of the Monster Tires. The Bone Rattler now boosts speed and weight while lowering acceleration and handling. It now exclusively shares its stats with the Steel Driver and the Tri-Speeder. 200cc staff ghosts use this body with Bowser and Iggy riding them and with Standard and Monster tires, respectively.

Trivia[edit]
- Like the Flame Runner in Mario Kart Wii, the Japanese name for the Bone Rattler refers to Bowser's international name, instead of his Japanese name of Koopa.
