Not to be confused with Construction Zone.

The first level of the construction site

The Construction Site,[1][better source needed] also known as Construction[2] or the Start,[3] is a location from Donkey Kong for the arcade and Donkey Kong for Game Boy. It is a building that is being constructed. When Donkey Kong kidnapped Pauline, he climbed up the construction site with her. When Mario attempted to pursue him, Donkey Kong began throwing barrels down at him.

In the original Donkey Kong, New York City was stated to be the location of the construction site.[4] In Donkey Kong Goes Home, it is located in Gamesville on the city's old zoo site. The Game Boy game indicated it was located in the vicinity of Big-City, while Donkey Kong Country: Rumble in the Jungle implied it was Big Ape City from Donkey Kong Land (also indicated, but not explicitly stated, by the game's instruction booklet). New Donk City in Super Mario Odyssey features many references to the original Donkey Kong, including the construction site, and it is implied the events that took place there are a part of the city's beginnings.[5][6][7]
