Wizpig, also formatted as Wiz-Pig,[3] is a gigantic alien pig, and the main villain of Diddy Kong Racing and its Nintendo DS version. His name is a portmanteau of "wizard" and "pig".
History[edit]
Background[edit]
All that is known of Wizpig's past is that he decided to attempt to conquer his own planet out of boredom. He succeeded, and transformed his homeworld into a high-tech amusement park called Future Fun Land. Eventually, Wizpig once again grew bored, and decided to leave his planet to look for excitement on other inhabited worlds. One of the thrills Wizpig discovered was the sport of racing. This sport eventually became Wizpig's favorite thing to do, along with causing chaos.[4]
Diddy Kong Racing / Diddy Kong Racing DS[edit]
In Diddy Kong Racing and its Nintendo DS version, Wizpig went to Timber's Island to begin a reign of chaos, which includes usurping the power of Taj, turning Drumstick into a frog when he tried to challenge Wizpig, and hypnotizing Tricky, Bluey, Bubbler, and Smokey into becoming his servants, giving each of them a Wizpig amulet piece to guard. Timber, the son of the island's owners, and his friend Diddy Kong set out on a quest to retrieve all the pieces of the Wizpig amulet, allowing them to challenge Wizpig in a race. After he loses, he teleports away. With Wizpig seemingly defeated, Diddy Kong and friends celebrate, but their party is cut short by Wizpig suddenly reappearing. Transporting himself and one opponent to Future Fun Land, Wizpig demands a rematch. After beating Wizpig in this second race, the rocket he is riding on malfunctions, sending him to a deserted planet.
Wizpig was made a playable character in the remake, where he can be unlocked by completing Adventure Mode 2. His stats are identical to those of Taj. His playable form is also made smaller to fit the vehicles properly. His accent was also changed from American to British in the remake as indicated by his line "You can't beat me!" in which he pronounces "can't" as /kɑːnt/ rather than /kænt/.
Mario no Bōken Land[edit]
Wizpig appears as the main villain of the Diddy Kong Racing story segment of Mario no Bōken Land, titled "Go Go Diddy!". He attacks Taj during a race, ripping up the carpet he was riding, which strips Taj of his magical powers, before escaping. Mario, Princess Peach and Diddy Kong ride on airplanes to follow Wizpig, but he launches a bomb which hits Mario and Peach. Diddy Kong avoids the attack, and Wizpig follows it up with a missile, which he also avoids. Diddy manages to bury Wizpig under a pile of rocks, trapping him underneath. While Diddy Kong and his friends celebrate Wizpig's defeat, the last panel shows Taj offering to help Wizpig out of the rocks if he promises to not do any more bad actions.
4koma Gag Battle[edit]
Wizpig appears throughout the 4koma Gag Battle manga adaptation of Diddy Kong Racing.
