#REDIRECTBat (Luigi's Mansion series)

A Bat is a minor type of ghost enemy found in Luigi's Mansion. They come in two colors, purple and gold, and often appear in large groups. Purple bats hang from the ceiling, and when Luigi walks by, it swoops down to attack him. If one hits Luigi, Luigi will be slightly damaged by five HP and the ghost would disappear in a puff of smoke. If the strike is unsuccessful, the Bat would return to the ceiling and prepare for the next attack. Gold Bats also hang on the ceiling, but only attack if Luigi turns on the Poltergust 3000 on vaccuum mode (elemental mode does not work). For the bats to attack, Luigi must be in the same room or corridor with them. In all other respects, they are exactly the same as Purple Bats. Bats can be easily sucked up with the Poltergust 3000 or immediately destroyed with elemental powers.

They bear a passing resemblance to Swoopers, other bat enemies.

Trivia
*It is interesting to note that the player does not need to turn the Poltergust 3000 on vaccuum mode exactly to wake Gold Bats up. When in first-person mode with the Game Boy Horror and then the "R" button is pressed, the Gold Bats will wake up. This means that the overall thing to make Gold Bats wake up if by pressing the "R" button, regardless if the Poltergust 3000 is used or not.
