| Fiery Dino Piranha is a boss fought in Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. The character is similar to Dino Piranha. Its body is dark red, and its head is black with red spots, much like its egg. Its petals are similar to that of a palm tree, and has white lips, like the normal Dino Piranha, but in contrast to the green lips of Petey Piranha. As its tail is on fire, it can leave a fiery trail behind it, and, in its final hit, it is able to shoot fireballs. It's also much faster than the normal Dino Piranha, which makes it harder for Mario to strike its tail. The player can catch up with it by long jumping.

| In Super Mario Galaxy, Mario battles this boss in the Melty Molten Galaxy. This battle practices the use of the Spin. The beginning of the battle is much like that of the normal Dino Piranha, with Mario landing on the egg and a blind boss trotting around the planet, except the bulb of the tail will ignite and go out in a steady rhythm, forcing Mario to wait until its tail is not on fire before breaking the egg completely.
| |
| | |
| Once the flaming boss emerges from the egg, it will spot Mario and chase him, just like the original boss. However, the bulb's fire will still flicker on and off, again, forcing Mario to wait until the tail is not on fire before striking. This can be tricky, because someone who is chasing the Fiery Dino Piranha might find themselves running right into the trail of flame that the tail creates.

| After the first strike, the boss will stomp in anger, and with a swoosh of its fiery tail, he continues chasing Mario. After the second strike, the flaming boss will begin shooting fireballs out of its mouth, making the planet arena a much more fiery and dangerous place to walk around. The player must dodge the fireballs and the trails they leave, plus the trail the tail's bulb leaves, and, to many players' frustration, wait until the bulb has lost its fire before delivering the third and final strike whilst dodging the flames. The boss will ignite into flames once more in a cry of agony before falling dead to the ground and vanishing in a poof of smoke.

| ===Super Mario Galaxy 2===
| |
| Fiery Dino Piranha does re-appear in Super Mario Galaxy 2. It is the last boss Mario fights in Boss Blitz Galaxy. Its battle is the same as the one from Super Mario Galaxy. It is the last boss of the game.
| |
| | |
| On a side note, if players lose a life while fighting it, they must fight Bouldergeist again.

| ==Trivia==
| |
| *The Fiery Dino Piranha shares its music with the normal Dino Piranha, as well as Tarantox.
| |
| *Fittingly enough, Dino Piranha is the first boss in Super Mario Galaxy, while Fiery Dino Piranha is the last boss (not counting Bowser from Bowser's Galaxy Reactor), creating the feeling of having gone full circle once both have been defeated.
| |
| *Fiery Dino Piranha is very similar to Fire Gobblegut, as both bosses are fiery versions of the original bosses (Dino Piranha and Gobblegut).
| |
| *The official Prima guide for Super Mario Galaxy says that Fiery Dino Piranha and Dino Piranha are related.
