This is a complete list of Mario Kart Wii tournaments (competitions in European languages) that were held on the Mario Kart Channel. Two tournaments were held each month, starting in May of 2008. The first tournament of each month lasted from the 1st to the 10th of that month, and the second lasted from the 15th until the 25th. Tournaments were sent through the internet to the Wii console via WiiConnect24. There would be a total of 47 unique tournaments. From the second tournament of August 2010 onward, all tournaments were repeats of previous ones. Even though WiiConnect24 services were discontinued in June 27, 2013, the tournaments were still available. The tournaments could also not be played on a Wii U at all due to the system not being compatible with WiiConnect24.

As of May 2010, almost all competitions are repeats of competitions held before that date.
The types of tournaments included the following:

2008 Competitions
*VS. Race: A standard VS race; however, race courses had various alterations made to them.
{| border=1 cellspacing=0 cellpadding=3 width=100%
*Time Trial: A standard Time Trial; however, race courses had various alterations made to them.
|width=150px|
*Numbered Gates: The player had to drive through ordered gates as fast as possible.
|May 2008 Competition 1May 2008 Competition 1 – The first Competition was a Grand Prix-styled race on Mario Circuit with Chain Chomps running loose on the track, along with extra Goombas roaming around.
*Coin Collecting: The player had to collect the coins on the stage as fast as possible.
*Boss Battle: The player had to fight or race against a special boss.

It was repeated as the first competition of May 2010, but with some differences.
Luigi Circuit, Mario Circuit, and GCN are the only courses where more than one type of tournament took place in them, while Moo Moo Meadows and SNES are the only courses where a tournament did not take place.

With the discontinuation of Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection on May 20, 2014, the tournament service has concluded as of the end of the May 2014 tournament.

Trivia
*February 2009's first Competition was the first competition where players had been given false competition information.
*November 2009's second competition may be based on Mario Kart 64s Rainbow Road course with Chomps.
*April 2010's second competition is similar to Mario Kart 64s Toad's Turnpike in Flower Cup Mirror Mode (known as EXTRA) where all the vehicles are going in the opposite direction.
*The competitions are similar to Mission Mode from Mario Kart DS.
*With a total of one hundred five competitions currently, SNES Ghost Valley 2 and Moo Moo Meadows are the only tracks to not have a competition yet.

it:Lista degli Eventi Speciali di Mario Kart Wii

Latest revision as of 21:32, July 7, 2024

The types of tournaments included the following:

 • VS. Race: A standard VS race; however, race courses had various alterations made to them.
 • Time Trial: A standard Time Trial; however, race courses had various alterations made to them.
 • Numbered Gates: The player had to drive through ordered gates as fast as possible.
 • Coin Collecting: The player had to collect the coins on the stage as fast as possible.
 • Boss Battle: The player had to fight or race against a special boss.

Luigi Circuit, Mario Circuit, and GCN Peach Beach are the only courses where more than one type of tournament took place in them, while Moo Moo Meadows and SNES Ghost Valley 2 are the only courses where a tournament did not take place.

With the discontinuation of Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection on May 20, 2014, the tournament service has concluded as of the end of the May 2014 tournament.
