A '''platform''' is an obstacle in almost every adventure video game, and the ''[[Super Smash Bros. (series)|Super Smash Bros.]]'' series. This article is about the obstacle in platform games. For the genre, see Genre § Platform games.
Not to be confused with Snake Block, which is seldomly named Platform.

Platforms in the Super Mario franchise are physical objects that the player character jumps across to get through levels or discover secrets. While platforms are mainly in side-scrollers, the player can jump up through the bottoms of some platforms (and, in Super Smash Bros.' case, drop through the tops as well), which cannot be done in three-dimensional games. Platforms often have gimmicky traits, such as moving. These are sometimes referred to as lifts. Some platforms in Yoshi's Woolly World are yarn frames that require a yarn ball to be thrown at them to become solid.
