i noticed in the names in other languages section that jerry is known as gina in italy, which is mentioned to be a common female given name (and most of the character's other names sound quite conventionally feminine, unlike jerry which sounds like cherry while being a traditionally male name).
since it isn't mentioned anywhere on the page, is jerry actually referred to as a girl in italy or other regions (like how many other characters, such as petey piranha or vivian have differing genders per region)s, is jerry still referred to as a boy (in their own text or by the likes of luigi, goombella, or the in-game novelizations of luigi's adventure), or are they not addressed with any gendered references in italy? their japanese name doesn't seem gendered either, so i'm wondering if that was just done in italy or if their gender is unclear or different in any other translations (and if english is the odd one out).
i'm interested in knowing if anyone can find or provide this information, especially since he's an obscure character i don't imagine many places hold readily available information on. - P. Bagelboo, 15:15, December 16 2022 (UTC) |

Gender in other regions[edit]
i noticed in the names in other languages section that jerry is known as gina in italy, which is mentioned to be a common female given name (and most of the character's other names sound quite conventionally feminine, unlike jerry which sounds like cherry while being a traditionally male name).
since it isn't mentioned anywhere on the page, is jerry actually referred to as a girl in italy or other regions (like how many other characters, such as petey piranha or vivian have differing genders per region)s, is jerry still referred to as a boy (in their own text or by the likes of luigi, goombella, or the in-game novelizations of luigi's adventure), or are they not addressed with any gendered references in italy? their japanese name doesn't seem gendered either, so i'm wondering if that was just done in italy or if their gender is unclear or different in any other translations (and if english is the odd one out).
i'm interested in knowing if anyone can find or provide this information, especially since he's an obscure character i don't imagine many places hold readily available information on. - P. Bagelboo, 15:15, December 16 2022 (UTC)
