In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Mario and Luigi had to protect Princess Peach from these Goombas (along with Spiky Snifits) as she crossed Teehee Valley to get to Little Fungitown. - In the The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, Goomba Mummies make a few appearances. These Mummy Goombas bear minor resemblance to Gritty Goombas.
- The Gritty Goomba's flag is red in Teehee Valley and green in Gwarhar Lagoon.
