Magnus is fought after Mario and the Punies confront Crump at the entrance to the woods, he climbs into Magnus Von Grapple and attacks them. His attacks include stomping on top of Mario and his partners, shooting out his fists, and stomping the ground to create an earthquake.
History
Paper Mario:The Thousand-Year Door
In Mario's hunt for the Crystal Stars the second star, the Emerald Star was hidden in The Great Tree of Boggly Woods. Unfortunately the X-Nauts, led by Lord Crump, were already there searching for the star. Crump allowed Mario to find the Crystal Star, and then stole it from him after he discovered it at the bottom of the Tree with the help of the Punis. Mario confronted Crump who threatened to destroy the Tree with a time bomb. Mario pursued him to the tree's entrance, where he found Crump being stopped by the Puni Elder. The Elder's rage was enough to make Crump stop the bomb, but he refused to hand the Star over. He instead activated Magnus Von Grapple and attacked Mario and his party. Magnus shot it's fists at Mario, stomped on him, and even created earthquakes, but Mario prevailed over the robot and claimed the Crystal Star. The X-Nauts later built a new robot named Magnus von Grapple 2.0, which was much more powerful than its predecessor.
Power and Abilities
Magnus von Grapple is able to launch both his fists off and use them as a weapon. When launched this fists had a HP of two and an attack power of four, so they should be taken care of earlier. Magnus's main attack is to stomp on Mario and his friends which did only two damage to them. Another attack was to create an Earthquake, which did the same number of damage as stomping did.
Later Version
- Main article: Magnus von Grapple 2.0
After the failure of Magnus von Grapple, the X-Nauts constructed another version: Magnus von Grapple 2.0. This robot was much stronger than the first one and has attacks such as a Drill attack, a flying disk, and a Rapid Fire cannon (The ammo for this was in fact the Audience). Mario was still able to defeat the upgraded robot as well.
Trivia
- Magnus Von Grapple was given a reference in Super Paper Mario. Francis made a "things to get" list, stating that he wants a Magnus Von Grapple action figure.
- Brobot is Magnus Von Grapple's Super Paper Mario equivalent. Also, the upgraded version of Magnus is the equivalent of the upgraded Brobot.
